Tennis in the United States is played on three kinds of places: public park courts run by a city or county, member clubs and country clubs with their own pros and leagues, and commercial tennis centers that sell court time by the hour. Public courts are usually free and first come, first served, with a posted limit (often 60-90 minutes when others are waiting); busier cities run online reservation systems with a small fee and a permit for the season. Indoor courts are rented by the hour and booked days ahead in winter. Most facilities are hard courts; clay is common in the Southeast and at private clubs, and grass is rare. Lights extend play into the evening at many parks, sometimes with a coin or app-operated switch.

Spring Valley is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Spring Valley is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Playing as a twosome we arrived for our 7:45 Sunday tee time at the tee box at 7:40. At 7:45 The starter angrily told us we are not to hit until he gets back. 5 minutes later a foursome rolls by us and the starter drives up and says theyβre going in front of us. They said they were the 7:20. We suggested as a twosome we should go ahead and the starter told us to mind our own business you get off the tee box. He said they were the 7:40. The situation seemed unnecessarily, stressful, and disorganized, and if in fact, they are stacking the tee box every five minutes that would make sense. Further, everybody understands things can get mixed up or out of order and can be handled very effectively with simple and courteous conversation. This starter chose a different route practically threatening us as we waited. Not interested in returning to pay that price and be treated poorly.

Finally got a chance to play here yesterday! Overall, it's a great, fun course that I will definitely visit again. Staff & Facilities: The staff was friendly, and the main building was spotless and clean. βCourse Condition: The course itself is in good condition throughout. β βPace of Play & Staffing: There was no starter or ranger onsite when I played. A few foursomes ahead of me were playing quite slow, which caused me to get stuck for a while. βCart Paths: Some sections of the cart paths are showing their age and need some attention. βLayout Quirks: Keep an eye out for Holes 9 and 17, which have significant blind spots. Also, prepare for a bit of a climb at the end of each nineβboth Hole 9 and Hole 18 play straight uphill. β βDespite the minor pace-of-play bottleneck and some bumpy cart paths, the quality of the course and the friendliness of the staff make this a fantastic place to play. Looking forward to my next round here.

Nice course with well maintained greens. However, at $130 per round, I would expect much better pace of play. There were multiple groups waiting to tee off on the par threes, and we finished our round with a 5 hour 15 minute pace. There were multiple rangers out on the course, but I didn't see them doing anything.

Good track 28 miles north of NYC. I was fortunate that the conditions that day were clear but chilly (38 F) to snap one of the best if not the best views of the NYC skyline at sunset. Closed strong with a Par at the last hole, 450 yard Par 5 - 18th with 7 minutes to spare until sunset after making double bogey triple bogey and double bogey on the previous 3 holes to cap off a mediocre round of 91 as a 13 cap. Green complexes were well-maintained and from a majority of the holes presented significant challenges with multiple ridges, false fronts, backstops and steeply elevated areas so I was happy that I only had a couple of 3-putts for my first time playing this track. Bunkers were well-maintained except for one greenside bunker on the Par 4 5th hole that was overgrown and clearly not maintained at all. I had to ride that day as I forgot my Alphard V2 unit but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the course is a hard walk with at least one hole requiring a steep climb of at least 40+ feet and the the other holes with significantly elevated tee boxes w/ no access for push carts in addition to steep downhill paths requiring expert maneuvering and/or automatic downhill b

Friendly staff, decent course, but food, needs improvement. The club offers great meeting spaces for conferences or events. The location is a bit rural, but there's easy on-site parking, which is a plus.
